Fall Conference 2021

Data in the Evolving Mobility Ecosystem

Friday, December 3, 2021
10:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Virtual, via Zoom
Organized by John Paul MacDuffie and Rahul Kapoor

As technologies evolve and enable firms to collect, store, and mine more and more data, these present both monetization opportunities and regulatory challenges for players seeking to compete in the mobility space. Data strategy for the future of mobility may be one of the greatest opportunities for firms to capture value from their innovation investments in connected vehicles. At the same time, adoption of data-first strategy may present potential pitfalls for data usage, with privacy advocates sounding the alarm about the potential for negative consequences for both individuals and society due to the difficulty of limiting how personal information could be used.

The Mack Institute’s Winter Conference 2021 will explore these themes from the perspectives of both the auto and technology industries viewed through the lens of multiple disciplines. The goal is establishing the basis for ongoing dialogue on the important role that data plays in the evolving mobility ecosystem.

Key elements to be discussed will include:

  • Navigating the Data Value Chain
  • Technologies Catalyzing Change: Data and AI
  • Data Access and Use for Connected Vehicle Technology
  • Data Privacy Regulations

With its mission to join rigorous research with practical applications to help established firms navigate the risks and rewards of innovation, The Mack Institute will host this conference in concert with its Program on Vehicle and Mobility Innovation. The Mack Institute regularly convenes meetings with stakeholders across many industries, including our corporate partners and the Wharton School’s global alumni network.
